
Patriots Re-Sign Matt Hagen And Jim Magrane

Bridgewater, NJ- The Four-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the re-signings of utility player Matt Hagen and right-handed pitcher Jim Magrane.
Hagen had an All-Star season for Somerset in 2008, finishing with a .308 batting average, 71 runs scored, 132 hits, 23 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 71 RBI, and 34 stolen bases in 117 games played.
Hagen has experience in the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres organization, including a season at the Double-A level.
He spent the 2007 season in the Frontier League with Rockford and finished with a .335 batting average with 59 runs, 118 hits, 23 doubles, 13 home runs, 62 RBI, and 27 stolen bases in 93 games played.
Magrane was 9-9 for the Patriots during the 2008 season and finished with a 4.48 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 144.2 innings pitched in 23 games.
Magrane has experience in the Tampa Bay Rays and Washington Nationals organizations, including six seasons at the Triple-A level.
Magrane has a minor league career 4.06 ERA and 916 strikeouts in 259 games, 218 as a starter. He has pitched five complete games and pitched one complete game shutout.
Magrane spent the early part of 2008 with the Long Island Ducks, where he started in three games. He finished the 2007 season at the Triple-A level in Columbus and posted a 4.15 ERA in four games.
