BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Forward Don Parsons of the Bloomington (Ill.) PrairieThunder tied the professional minor league hockey record for career goals scored Saturday night in the first period against Flint at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
Parsons' record-tying 677th career goal came at the 12:53 mark. It was an unassisted effort.
The next goal by Parsons will move him past Kevin Kerr and establish him as the all-time record holder. Kerr has the record of 677 career goals, set in 2005.
The 39-year-old Parsons, who is playing in his 17th season, also recorded the record-tying goal in his 981th game.
