Frisco Fighters News Release
All good things must come to an end at some point. That included the Fighters' seven-game winning surge to kick off the season.
Despite five rushing scores by quarterback TJ Edwards, Frisco suffered its first setback of the season against the Bay Area Panthers Saturday evening. The Panthers won, 62-55.
Former Fighter Justin Rankin starred for the hosts, rushing for four touchdowns on 10 carries. He also caught a strike from Dalton Sneed in the first quarter, which the Panthers outscored Frisco, 21-7.
The Fighters pulled even at 28 after Martez Carter's ground score shortly before halftime, then within one on two occasions in the third quarter.
Rankin hit paydirt three times in the game's final 16 minutes to seal the deal.
Jordan Jolly also caught a touchdown pass in the loss, as did Carter. Frisco never led during the road test. It was the two teams' first-ever meeting.
The Fighters return home to face the San Diego Strike Force Saturday night.
