Portland Pirates News Release
Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon today announced the recall of forward Corban Knight from the Portland Pirates.
Knight, a 6-foot-2, 200 pound center from High River, Alberta, returned to the Pirates lineup earlier this week after missing the first 20 regular season games with an injury suffered during Pirates Training Camp in early October. He played three games for the Pirates, scoring a goal and an assist for two points. Both points came in last Wednesday night's 5-1 win over the Springfield Falcons at Cross Insurance Arena, which was Knight's first game in the Pirates' lineup this season.
A third-year pro, Knight was originally drafted by the Panthers in the Fifth Round (135th Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Before his first pro season, he was traded to the Calgary Flames for a Fourth Round draft pick in June of 2013.
Knight has played nine games in his NHL career, all with the Flames. He has one goal and one point.
The Panthers reacquired Knight via trade this past January in exchange for forward Drew Shore. This is the first time Knight has been recalled to the NHL by Florida.
Before turning pro, Knight played four seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey for the University of North Dakota. He will join the Panthers ahead of their road game tomorrow night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York against the New York Islanders.
