SOUTHAVEN, MS (April 7, 2010) --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) and the Clark Beverage Group of Southaven have provided a check in the amount of $3,925 to the Palmer Home for Children.

The check equals half of the proceeds from a season-ending auction of the Miller Lite warm-up jerseys worn by the RiverKings. The jerseys were worn during pre-game warm-ups prior to each home game of the 2009-2010 RiverKings' season.

Clark Beverage Group, a local distributor with offices in Southaven, sponsored the jerseys that were auctioned off. Palmer Home for Children was named as one of the two beneficiaries of the proceeds; the Jr. StreetKings youth roller hockey program was the other.

Palmer Home for Children, a Christian facility for troubled children needing family structure, is based in Columbus, Mississippi, and has a campus location outside of Hernando. Harold Clark of the Clark Beverage Group is a member of the board of directors for the Palmer Home, a patron charity of Clark's company.

Christine Grant, Director of Groups and Events for the Palmer Home, says it's a huge boost to her organization. "It (the check proceeds) goes directly into our operational fund that helps keep the lights on and keeps the beds made and keep the food on the table and helps creates more homes for more children in need. It will also help open more cottages for more children that we take care of."

Clark Beverage Group General Manager Jeff Brashear notes his company believes it is important to be involved in the community with efforts like that. "It's important to the Clark family and us to be involved in the community and involved with the RiverKings. They're good for DeSoto County and for our business, as well. It's kind of a ‘win-win-win;' it helps the community, helps the Palmer Home, and it helps our business, so it's a great partnership."

The Mississippi RiverKings are supported by their community partners, season ticket holders, fans, and by program-related investments of the Maddox Foundation, an independent private foundation based in Hernando, Miss. The Foundation supports the team's programs that increase investments in area charities and their causes. To find out more about the RiverKings, call 662.342.1755 or visit www.riverkings.com.
