Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

JUPITER, FL- With rain threatening throughout the game, it was only fitting that a player with the word "Dry" in his last name would hit the game-winner.

Matt Dryer belted his 4th homerun of the season in the bottom of the ninth to give the Palm Beach Cardinals another walk-off win, defeating the Jupiter Hammerheads, 4-3, at Roger Dean Stadium.

Trailing 3-2, in the ninth, Mike Ferris drew a lead-off walk against Jupiter closer Harvey Garcia (0-3), who entered earlier to record the eighth inning's final out. Sean Danielson ended up replacing Ferris as a pinch-runner, but wouldn't have to steal a base after Dryer connected on a Garcia fastball.

Palm Beach (24-24) did lead for most of the game until the top of the seventh, when Jupiter (20-28) scored all three of their runs against Nick Webber. Only one run was earned, as the Cardinals collected all three of their errors in the inning. Webber came out of the bullpen for the first time this year to allow rehabbing Chris Narveson to grab the start. Narveson pitched four brilliant innings allowing only two hits, walking none and striking out five. Neither pitcher factored in the decision.

Cardinals' southpaw Troy Cate (1-0) picked up his first victory of the season, bailing out fellow reliever Jose Garcia with some timely pitching in the ninth. Cate came into the game with the bases loaded, but left all runners on base by getting Frank Moore on a pop up and Brad McCann swinging.

Both teams continue the series tomorrow afternoon with Cardinals right-hander Mitchell Boggs going up against fellow right-hander Gaby Hernandez. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 pm
