Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS -- The Palm Beach Cardinals bats were simply too much for the Fort Myers Miracle on Wednesday night as the team's five-game losing streak was snapped with a 10-3 defeat at Hammond Stadium.

The five straight wins was one shy of the season high, but Palm Beach jumped for six runs in the first three and put it out of reach late. Tommy Pham was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a three-run homer. He was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning and after several minutes, was helped off the field by two coaches. The ball appeared to hit him in the helmet, but it didn't seem Henry Arias threw at him intentionally. He had already hit another batter in the same inning but was not ejected by the umpires.

Mike Tarsi (3-2) took the loss, allowing six runs -- three earned -- on nine hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out five. Joe Testa gave up a run in one and two-thirds, while Henry Arias surrendered another in one and one-third.

Cardinals starter David Kopp didn't qualify for the win with four innings pitched. He gave up three earned runs on five hits, with three walks and four strikeouts. Blake King (7-3) came on in relief and allowed no hits in three innings, walking one, and striking out another.

Deibinson Romero was the only Miracle batter with a multi-hit game as he finished 2-for-4 with a ru nscored. Adron Chambers and Chris Swauger were 3-for-5 each for Palm beach, while Oliver Marmol went 2- for-5 at the bottom of the order.

David Bromberg opposes Brian Broderick in Thursday's rubber match at 7:05 p.m.
