Palm Beach Continues To Enjoy June
June 2, 2006 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
JUPITER, FL- Even though we're only two days into June, the Palm Beach Cardinals are glad it's not May, taking its second straight game over the Dunedin Blue Jays, 6-2, at Roger Dean Stadium.
The last time the Cardinals won two games in a row was back on April 29th and 30th against the Vero Beach Dodgers. In May, Pop Warner's club managed a dismal record of 9-19.
Starter Chris Narveson continues the long road back, making his second rehab appearance after being shelved with a left-shoulder strain injury to end 2005. Narveson lasted six innings, surrendering only two runs on two hits, while striking out three.
The two hits were all that the Cardinals staff allowed as Matt Scherer (5-4) picked up the victory working the seventh and eighth innings and Dennis Dove closing out the Blue Jays hopes in the ninth.
Palm Beach (27-26) broke the game open in the eighth, scoring four runs on only one hit. The inning looked very similar to their victory over Lakeland on May 22, when the Cardinals scored three runs without getting a hit.
Right fielder Joe Mather went 3-for-4 on the night and catcher Brandon Yarbrough collected the only multi-RBI game, including an RBI double.
