Dayton Dragons News Release

The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Infielder Tanner Rahier and left-handed pitcher Juan Martinez have been promoted to Daytona (Advanced-A, Florida State League).

Infielder Josciel Veras has been promoted to Dayton from Billings (Advanced-Rookie, Pioneer League).

Outfielder Juan Duran has been assigned to Dayton on a Major League rehabilitation assignment. He does not count toward the roster limit of 25 players.

The Dragons roster currently stands at 24 players, one below the Midwest League limit.

Rahier appeared in 16 games for the Dragons, mostly at third base, batting .221 with one home run and three runs batted in.

Martinez appeared in 25 games out of the Dragons bullpen, posting a record of 3-2 with a 1.60 earned run average.

Veras is in his third season in the Reds organization after being selected in the 30th round of the 2014 draft out of Cumberland University in Tennessee. He appeared in two games earlier this season at Triple-A Louisville before playing for Billings when the Mustangs opened their season last Friday. Veras played in two games with Billings, batting .333 with one home run. Veras plays all positions in the infield and has also played the outfield.

Duran has not played this season. He has spent the last two years with the Reds Double-A club, Pensacola. Duran spent the 2011 season with the Dragons and was a key member of that season's playoff club. The 2011 Dragons roster also included Billy Hamilton, Tucker Barnhart, Donald Lutz, Josh Smith, and Drew Hayes among others.

The Dragons open the second half with a four-game series at Fifth Third Field against the South Bend Cubs beginning tonight at 7:00 p.m.
