Florence Y'alls News Release

FLORENCE, Ky. - A back-and-forth battle through the first five innings quickly turned into a Gateway Grizzlies six-run lead over the Florence Y'alls on Sunday afternoon at Y'alls Ballpark.

In the sixth inning, Florence starter Jonaiker Villalobos finished his third time through the batting order. With one out and two runners on with the score all square at two, Jonathan Tripp took over. After getting second baseman Jay Prather to pop out, Tripp gave up a three-run home run to shortstop Justin Jones to give Gateway a 5-2 lead.

Two innings later, with Joe Dougherty on the hill, third baseman Jose Rosario added another three-run bomb to give Gateway a six-run cushion. The home run was just the second extra-base hit Dougherty had allowed all season, the first being a double earlier in the inning.

The win secured a series victory for the Grizzlies, improving their record to 10-19. The Y'alls, who dropped their second straight series on Sunday, fall to 18-11.
