Montreal, January 24, 2003 - After completing the 2002 season with the Grey Cup Champions, wide receiver Kwame Cavil has accepted a new deal with the Montreal Alouettes and will be at the team's training camp along with guard Jimmy Cabellos.
Cavil (6'2'', 203 lbs.) played one game with the Alouettes in 2002, the second-to-last game in Ottawa. He scored a touchdown on a 19-yard completion from Anthony Calvillo. Cavil had signed with the Cleveland Browns on February 5, 2002. He was then allocated to NFL Europe's Scottish Claymores and then won the World Bowl with the Berlin Thunder. In 2000 and 2001, Cavil played with the Buffalo Bills, mainly on special teams. Cavil got his experience at the University of Texas.
Cabellos (6'5'', 312 lbs.) attended the Alouettes' 2002 training camp. In 2001, he made a stint with the NFL's Carolina Panthers. In college, he was selected on his conference's All-Star team (MAC) at right guard in his junior and senior years as he started every game. In his second year, he started nine of the team's 13 games.
Super Sunday: Several Alouettes players will be at different spots in the province to watch the Super Bowl with football fans this Sunday. Patrick Dorvelus and Bryan Chiu will be at the CEPSUM in Montreal, Bruno Heppell and Sylvain Girard will be at the Chicoutimi Hotel in Saguenay and Stephane Fortin will be at the Récréathèque in Laval.
