Padres' Skid Continues

The Tucson Padres have tied a season high with their fourth straight loss after falling to Colorado Springs 7-3 Thursday. The Sky Sox scored early and held on, as they have in all three games of the series. Matt Macri hit a two-out, RBI single in the second inning for the game's first run and Mike Jacobs hit a two-run home run in the third. Tucson starter John Van Benschoten allowed five runs on 12 hits in 5.1 innings.

The Padres two runs came on an RBI groundout in the third by Jarrett Hoffpauir and an RBI double by Anthony Rizzo in the fifth. Aaron Cunningham was 2-for-3 with a double and is now hitting .331 this season. Joe Mather went 3-for-5 with two doubles for Colorado Springs and Mike Paulk was 2-for-5 with a triple.

Joe Thatcher retired the only two batters he saw in his fifth Major League injury rehab appearance with Tucson. Thatcher needed just six pitches to retire Ryan Rohlinger and Jacobs in the sixth inning. The Padres are now 49-56, in third place, 13.5 games behind first place Sacramento.
