Memphis Redbirds News Release


MEMPHIS, TN - The Redbirds return to AutoZone Park for their eighth homestand of the season after a four-game series in Oklahoma City and a four-game series in Round Rock. While home, the 'Birds will host the Iowa Cubs (Chicago Cubs affiliate). The Redbirds homestand will be headlined by the Ground Zero Flag presentation and post-game fireworks on Saturday, July 30 and Guaranteed Win Night on Monday, August 1.

Saturday, July 30, 2011 - Redbirds vs. Iowa Cubs (6:05 p.m.)

* Ground Zero Flag: The Ground Zero Flag will be presented on field during the National Anthem. The flag will be placed on display during the game next to Ford's FansFirst for everyone to view and take pictures with.

* First Responders Night: The Peacemakers, a choral group made up of Memphis Police, will sing the National Anthem. Emergency vehicles will be on display in the front plaza of the ballpark and a tribute to Officer Warren will also be included on the night. Call Chris at 901.722.0286 for discounted tickets.

* Budweiser Bottoms Up Cart: The Budweiser Bottoms Up Cart will make its AutoZone Park debut during the entire four-game series. The machine pours beers from the bottom up allowing the beer to be poured faster and keep the line shorter.

* Signature Saturdays: Select Redbird players will sign autographs for a half hour on the concourse starting when gates open.

* Post-game Fireworks: Fans are encouraged to stay and enjoy post-game fireworks sponsored by MCR Safety.

Sunday, July 31, 2011 - Redbirds vs. Iowa Cubs (6:05 p.m.)

* Rockey's Birthday: Sponsored by US FoodService, several of Rockey's mascot friends will gather at AutoZone Park for Rockey's Birthday, participating in on field promotions and to help sing Happy Birthday to everyone's favorite Redbird. Kids Club members will also get to go on the field and sing Happy Birthday to Rockey.

* Smile Sundays: The first 500 kids 14 and under are given a free hygiene product upon entrance brought to you by Delta Dental.

* Silly Bandz Sunday: Every Sunday the first 500 kids 14 and under will receive Silly Bandz sponsored by Ferraro's Pizzeria & Pub and KRAFT Foods.

* Kids Run the Bases: Kids will be able to run the bases after the game.

Monday, August 1, 2011 - Redbirds vs. Iowa Cubs (7:05 p.m.)

* Guaranteed Win Night: Back in February Psychic Rhonda Manning predicted that on this day the Memphis Redbirds were guaranteed to win. Due to the chance of an astrological shift in the universe, the Redbirds could lose the August 1st contest. In that case, each fan's ticket from the game will be good for any other regular season game in 2011, based on availability.

* University of Memphis Tiger Night: Football coach Larry Porter and head basketball coach Josh Pastner are scheduled throw out the first pitch. Two seating prices are offered for this event, $21 for a club level seat and a meet and greet opportunity with both coaches; or $16 for a dugout ticket that includes the meet and greet as well. Both ticket purchases will give the Tigers fans access to an autograph session with Coach Porter and Coach Pastner located on the club level after their ceremonial first pitches. In support of the event the Redbirds will be donating a portion of tickets sales to the RBI and STRIPES programs on behalf of both coaches. * Tickets for Peanuts: Every Monday fans can bring a receipt to the box office from Kroger for Jimbo Jumbo's peanuts and receive half off game day ticket prices.

Tuesday, August 2, 2011 - Redbirds vs. Iowa Cubs (7:05 p.m.)

* Kids Run a Single on KRAFT Tuesday: Kids will be allowed to run a single after the game.
