RedHawks Earn Split with 5-3 Win

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Five different hitters knocked in a run and led the Oklahoma City RedHawks (48-59) to a 5-3 win over the Nashville Sounds (52-55) before 5,277 Friday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.

RedHawks starter Andy Van Hekken (6-4) allowed two runs and four hits with three walks and six strikeouts in six innings for the winning decision. Mike McClendon (3-2) took the relief loss for Nashville after allowing two runs and three hits over one and two-thirds innings for the relief loss. Wesley Wright (2) saved the game with a scoreless one and two-thirds innings.

Nashville opened the scoring in the first inning when Logan Schafer led off with a single and scored on a Caleb Gindl double for a 1-0 score. In the second inning, Martin Maldonado doubled with one out and scored on a two-out triple from Schafer for a 2-0 score.

The RedHawks tied the game in the fourth inning. Drew Locke singled and later scored on a Tommy Manzella sacrifice fly for a 2-1 game. Oswaldo Navarro singled and scored on an Andy Van Hekken RBI single for a 2-2 deadlock.

Oklahoma City took the lead for the first time in the sixth inning. Collin Delome hit a two-out, pinch-hit home run to right field, his fifth of the season, opening a 3-2 lead. Luis Durango next reached on an infield single and later scored on a base hit from Anderson Hernandez for a 4-2 advantage.

Nashville got back within one run in the eighth inning when Andy Gonzalez singled and later scored on a Schafer fielder's choice for a 4-3 score.

The RedHawks added an insurance run in the eighth inning when J.B. Shuck walked, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on a Luis Durango single for a 5-3 score.
