(Windsor, ON) - General Manager Warren Rychel has hired former Ontario Hockey League goalie Mark Packwood as our new Head Athletic Therapist.

Packwood, 29, played 40 games for the Kitchener Rangers and Oshawa Generals over parts of four seasons between 2004 and 2008 before moving on to begin his studies and Brock University and, later, the University of Western Ontario, where he recently earned his second Masters Degree.

Packwood takes over the position from the recently-departed Joey Garland, who won three Memorial Cups and a Hockey Canada gold medal during his storied 13-year career with the Spitfires.

Rychel says he was impressed by Packwood when it came time for a hire.

"Mark played in the league and has been around the game a long time," Rychel began. "But what really impressed me was his intelligence and his commitment. He's got more than enough education to be here and now the practical experience to replace Joey (Garland), who is a hard act to follow." Packwood is expected to join the team full-time around the middle of July.
