P-Nats Sweep De Facto Mother's Day Doubleheader

Woodbridge, VA- The Potomac Nationals (19-16, 11-8) took both Game Two and Game Three of their four-game series with the Winston Salem Dash (16-18, 8-10) on Sunday afternoon at Pfitzner Stadium by winning the completion of a suspended contest from Saturday night 7-2 and finishing off the de facto doubleheader with a 7-1 triumph in the seven-inning ballgame that followed. The Nationals have now won five in a row and finish off their fourth consecutive series victory.

Saturday evening's regularly scheduled Game Two was frozen headed into the 5th inning with the Nationals leading 4-1. Once the game was picked up on Sunday at noon, Nationals RHP Tyler Herron struck out the side by fanning CF Adam Heisler, 2B Joey DeMichele, and SS Chris Curley.

RHP Taylor Hill did not go the requisite 5.0 innings to qualify for the win, but was effective through 4.0 frames in which he allowed one earned run on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

1B Kevin Keyes blasted a three-run home run off the left field foul pole in the 7th inning to give Potomac a 7-1.

Herron (1-1), the winning pitcher, struck out four batters in 3.0 scoreless innings of relief walking one and giving up just one base hit, a single to C Kevan Smith.

Potomac RHP Greg Holt tossed 2.0 innings out of the bullpen and allowed one earned run on four walks, but struck out five men. The additional Dash run scored on an RBI fielder's choice grounder off the bat of Heisler.

The eventual losing pitcher, Winston-Salem RHP Chris Beck (2-5) served up four earned runs on five hits and walked four. Beck also allowed a two-run four-bagger by 3B Justin Miller over both tiers of signage in left field.

In series Game Three later in the day on Sunday, the seven-inning game, RHP Blake Schwartz (3-1), the winning pitcher, spun a gem through a complete game one-hitter.

Schwartz pitched a no-hitter through 4.2 innings and finished his 7.0 stanzas with just one single allowed to 2B David Herbek, while walking a trio and fanning five batters.

The losing pitcher, Jason Van Skike (2-1) dealt just 1.0 inning and gave up three earned runs and walked three.

The lone run for the Dash came in to score in the 1st inning on a Curley RBI groundout.

Potomac plated three runs in the 1st on three consecutive RBI singles by RF Caleb Ramsey, 3B Justin Miller, and 2B Adrian Sanchez.

The Nationals produced two runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings on a two-RBI single by Sanchez into center field, a run-scoring single by SS Jason Martinson into center, and an additional Miller RBI knock into right field.

The Game Four finale with the Winston Salem Dash will send Potomac LHP Robbie Ray (3-1, 2.08) to face off with RHP Bryan Blough (1-4, 6.94).
