
P-Bruins Fall to Sound Tigers 5-4

Bridgeport, CT - The Providence Bruins fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 5-4 Saturday evening at the Webster Bank Arena. The P-Bruins got their goals from Kirk MacDonald, Maxime Sauve, Steven Kampfer and Kyle MacKinnon. The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Adirondack Phantoms for Kid's T-Shirt Night.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 12:11 mark of the opening period. Kampfer carried the puck into the zone and passed it off to Trent Whitfield. He shot the puck towards the net where it was redirected in by MacDonald, for his fourth goal of the season. Providence took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Providence made it 2-0 at the 3:10 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Jamie Tardif had the puck in the zone. He passed it halfway down the boards to Zach Hamill. He skated it behind the net and before dropping it off in front of the crease for Sauve, who picked it up and tallied his fifth goal of the season. The P-Bruins went ahead 3-0 at the 11:44 mark. Hamill carried the puck into the zone and passed it off to Calle Ridderwall. He sent it back to Kampfer who walked into the slot and scored his first goal of the season. Bridgeport got on the board at the 14:19 mark, while on the power play. Justin DiBenedetto netted his 15th goal of the season, with Tony Romano and Aaron Ness recording the assists. The Sound Tigers pulled within one at the 19:14 mark. Trevor Frischmon scored his seventh goal of the season, while Sean Backman and Tyler McNeely picked up the assists. The P-Bruins led 3-2 going into the second intermission.
Bridgeport tied the game at the 4:14 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Michael Haley tallied his ninth goal of the season, with Scott Howes and Jon Landry grabbing the assists. The Sound Tigers took their first lead of the game at the 8:47 mark. Haley netted his second goal of the game and tenth goal of the season, while Kael Mouillierat had the lone assist. Providence tied the game at four at the 9:21 mark. MacKinnon scored his ninth goal of the season, with Yannick Riendeau getting the lone assist. Bridgeport took the lead for good at the 12:21 mark. Jeremy Colliton tallied his ninth goal of the season, while DiBenedetto picked up the only assist. Bridgeport went onto the 5-4 victory.
Anton Khudobin stopped 29 of 31 shots and Michael Hutchinson stopped 9 of 12 shots for the P-Bruins, while Kevin Poulin made 27 saves for the Sound Tigers. The P-Bruins were 1-for-2 on the power play and 1-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins return to The Dunk Friday for Kid's T-Shirt Night presented by Dunkin' Donuts, East Providence Fuel Oil and Graphic Ink at 7:05 p.m. against the Phantoms.
