P-Bruins Fall to Admirals 6-3

Norfolk, VA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Norfolk Admirals 6-3 Wednesday evening at The Scope. The P-Bruins got goals from Ben Walter, T.J. Trevelyan and Kris Versteeg.

In the opening period, the Admirals struck twice within 1:06 to take the early 2-0 lead. At the 5:42 mark Bryan Bickell opened up the scoring with Adam Burish and Jonas Nordqvist getting the assists. At the 6:48 mark Carl Corazzini tallied his 15th goal of the season with Cam Baker and Matt Keith recording the assists. The P-Bruins bounced back within one at the 13:56 mark of the opening period. Bobby Allen sent a pass from the neutral zone to Trevelyan. Skating down the right wing, Trevelyan sent a centering pass to Walter parked in the slot. He lifted the puck over the left shoulder of Admirals netminder Corey Crawford and into the net. The P-Bruins went into the first intermission trailing 2-1.

In the second period, the Admirals did all the scoring starting at the 13:05 mark. Burish took a shot and P-Bruins goaltender Philippe Sauve made the save, but the rebound went right to Adam Berti and he scored. Colin Fraser had the second assist. Only 29 seconds later Norfolk took the 4-1 lead. This time it was Fraser putting home the puck off another shot from Burish. Berti tallied the second assist. The Admirals wrapped up the second period scoring at the 17:06 mark with Berti's second goal of the period. Fraser and Burish recorded the assists as Norfolk went into the second intermission with the 5-1 lead.

The P-Bruins pulled within two goals in the third period. Only 1:03 into the final period Trevelyan scored his seventh goal of the season with Walter and Martins Karsums recording the assists. Coming off the power play the P-Bruins scored at the 11:33 mark. Versteeg had a breakaway and snuck the puck past Crawford between his skate and the post. David Krejci and Pascal Pelletier tallied the assists. The Admirals added an empty net goal at the 18:37 mark from Martin St. Pierre with assists going to Bickell and Brian Bochenski as Norfolk went on to the 6-3 victory.

Sauve stopped 32 of 37 shots for the P-Bruins, while Crawford made 38 saves for the Admirals. Providence was 0 for 6 on the power play, while Norfolk went 0 for 3 on the man-advantage.

The P-Bruins continue their eight game road trip Friday, December 29 against the Philadelphia Phantoms at Wachovia Spectrum at 7:05 p.m. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 5 to take on the Worcester Sharks at 4:05 p.m. For tickets call the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or log onto the team website at www.providencebruins.com.
