December 27, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that forward Janis Sprukts has been reassigned to Rochester by the Florida Panthers. The move allowed the Panthers to recall forward David Booth.
Sprukts was recalled on December 18th and returns to Rochester after playing four games with the Panthers. In his return, Sprukts will look to extend his current five-game point-scoring streak (3+7) that began back on December 6th when he tallied the game-winning goal in the Amerks' 3-2 win over Manitoba. The Amerk rookie is second on the team in points with 27 (7+20) in 25 games.
Booth returns to South Florida for the third time this season. He made his NHL debut on November 20th against Boston and picked up his first NHL point/assist versus Anaheim on December 12th. In 19 games with the Amerks, Booth has registered three goals and six assists, and has a plus-five rating.
The Rochester Americans will play their final home game of 2006 this Friday, December 29th against the Binghamton Senators at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280-AM WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks. The game will also be televised live on TWSN.
In the last meeting between the two clubs on December 23rd, Rochester pulled off a 6-5 comeback-win at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The Amerks rallied from two separate two-goal deficits and netted four straight power-play goals in the second period to capture the victory. The win was extra special for a pair of Amerk rookies, as Andrej Sekera (2+1) and Mike Funk (1 goal) picked up their first professional markers.
