Berkshire Black Bears News Release

Every night should be Win Jonathan Fleisig's Money Night at Wahconah Park. The Black Bears' spin-off of the popular Comedy Central game show has produced nothing but success for the hometown team, Berkshire is now 3-0 when the owner is handing out the dough. The Black Bears overwhelmed Allentown both offensively and with the leather, ending the team's four game losing streak with a 7-1 victory.

Knowing the owner's cash was at stake, the Black Bears' offense was charged up from the very first inning. Jose Mateo hit a lead-off single, Mark Burnett followed with a base hit, and Chris Briones made it three-hits-in-a-row with an RBI single to left, scoring Mateo from third. Then Ryan Jones hit a sacrifice fly to right field allowing Burnett to tag and score. Pete Paciorek added an RBI single bringing in Briones for an early 3-0 lead. Berkshire would pile on four more runs over the next five innings to close the deal, compiling 13 hits as a team.

The Black Bears starter, Tony Harden (6-1) picked up the win allowing just one unearned run and four hits while striking out six over six innings tonight. The Ambassadors starter, John Dillinger fell to 5-3 with his second straight loss, allowing seven runs, four earned and 10 hits in six innings of work.

Game two tomorrow night will open with the Black Bears' ace Rick Guttormson against Allentown left-hander Nolan Fly.
