Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

The Owlz pitching staff set a season-low for runs allowed in a 5-3 victory against the Idaho Falls Chukars.

Orem won back-to-back games for the first time this season thanks to a fantastic pitching effort from Aaron Newcomb, Yancarlos Santiago and Michael Morin.

Newcomb fired three innings of 1-run ball in his first professional start. He gave way to Yancarlos Santiago who threw three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and two walks. The final piece of the puzzle was Michael Morin. The closer glided through his first two innings, but allowed a 2-out 2-run home run in the 9th to former Utah Utes catcher, Parker Morin, to give the Chukars a fighting chance. Ysmelin Alcantara tripled, but Morin got Jared Schlehuber to fly out to end the game.

Orem got two runs in the 4th and 5th innings. Kyle Johnson hit his first professional home run, and his first home run in four years, in the 5th inning. Caleb Bushyhead, Michael Snyder and Anthony Bemboom each had RBIs in the middle innings. The final blow came on Michael Bolaski's third home run of the season in the 8th inning.

Orem is now 3-8 and will try to win its third straight game on Friday evening.

On Friday night, a baseball will be given away with 2011 Owlz C.J. Cron, Kaleb Cowart and Taylor Lindsey featured on the Phenomz Ball. On Saturday, former Major Leaguer, Dmitri Young, will be at the ballpark to sign autographs, throw out the first pitch and hand out "Da Meat Hooks."
