Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

(Helena) - The Orem Owlz lost the series finale with the Helena Brewers, 5-4, in 11 innings on Thursday night at Kendrick Legion Field.

For just the second time in the series, the Helena Brewers opened the scoring. After the Owlz went down in order in the top half of the first, Bryan Torres knocked a double to left-center with one out. Connor McVey gave the Brewers the lead with a double to right, scoring Torres.

Justin Jones tied the game at one in the third inning by smacking his first career home run.

Helena wasted little time in taking their lead back as David Fry smashed a three-run homer to left in the third inning.

The Owlz batted seven times in the sixth inning to tie the game. Rayneldy Rosario started the inning with a single and moved to third on a one-out Kevin Maitan single. D'Shawn Knowles then reached on an infield single, scoring Rosario. Francisco Del Valle tapped an infield single down the third base line and Maitan and Knowles both scored on a wild throw to first, tying the game at four.

The score remained tied and sent the Owlz and Brewers into extra innings. The Owlz failed to score in the top of the 10th inning before Luis Alverado kept the Brewers off the board in the bottom half.

After the Owlz failed to score in the 11th, the Brewers walked off winners on a Pablo Abreu sacrifice fly. Michael Mediavilla (2-1) earned the win for the Brewers while Dazon Cole (1-1) was charged with the loss for the Owlz. The Owlz open a four-game series with the Ogden Raptors Friday night at 6:35.
