Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that Saturday's "Guns 'n' Hoses" game between Las Vegas and New York police and firefighters resulted in more than $4,000 in donations for two local charities.
Over 1,000 tickets were purchased for the "Guns 'n' Hoses" game that took place between the Las Vegas police and fire departments and FDNY on Saturday, Feb. 4, before the Wranglers vs. Alaska Aces game. A portion of ticket proceeds were donated to the Injured Police Officers Fund of Nevada and the Nevada Burn Foundation, and almost 300 separate donations were made to both charities as well. Combined with a Chuck-a-Puck fundraiser during the matinee, a total of $4,340 was gifted to the organizations.
"We want to thank the Las Vegas community for supporting us and purchasing over 1,000 tickets," said Phillip Merges, detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and president of the Las Vegas Guns and Hoses. "We had a great time playing hockey against FDNY and feel lucky that we could support our local charities while playing a sport we love."
Both Las Vegas teams won their games on Saturday, with the Guns and Hoses defeating FDNY 9-3 and the Wranglers beating the Aces 4-3.
The Wranglers take on the Bakersfield Condors on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. The game also marks the return of "Pink in the Rink," where specialty game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off to raise funds and awareness for local breast cancer organizations. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to "pink out" Orleans Arena.
2011-12 season seat packages, starting at $30, are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. Individual tickets to Wranglers games are available by phone at (702) 284-7777, and can be purchased in person at all Coast Casino properties, Town Square shopping center or online at www.orleansarena.com. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located next to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
