Caruso Loaned to Charlotte; Thomas Returns

TRENTON, N.J. - The Trenton Titans announced goalie Dave Caruso has been loaned to the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, the signing of goalie Nick Niedert and the return of defenseman Vinny Geonnetti.

Additionally, defenseman Andy Thomas returns from the 3-Day Injured Reserve List, while team captain and forward Randy Rowe was placed on it.

Caruso, 29, served as the Titans' main goaltender this season, playing in 33 games and recording an 11-16-5 record with a goals-against-average of 3.32 and save percentage of .901. This is his fifth trip to the AHL, having previously appeared with Chicago (2006-07), Lowell (2007-08 and 2008-09) and Albany 2010-11), playing in 51 games.

Niedert, 29, recently played well in a trio of appearances for Elmira, notching a pair of wins and putting together a 2-0 mark with a goals-against-average of 2.07 and save percentage of .904. Geonnetti appeared in three games with the Titans earlier this season.

Thomas has played in 27 games with the Titans, registering a trio of assists, in addition to AHL stints with Adirondack and Binghamton. His strength is his steady defensive play. Rowe scored 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in 40 games before being sidelined.

The Titans travel to Cincinnati Friday and Wheeling Saturday before returning home for a 4 p.m. Sunday encounter with Elmira at the Sun National Bank Center, The team is then home for its Educational Day game with Reading, which begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, and welcomes the Royals at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 - a Papa John's Family Pizza Friday - then Wheeling at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, followed by a full-team autograph session.
