Chico Outlaws News Release

Beginning with a Dan Luyben solo home-run in the bottom of the first, the Outlaws would lead from wire to wire, as they beat Tucson for the sixth time in eight meetings this year, and garner win number 12 on the season.

Evan White, in his fourth start, all of which have come at Nettleton Stadium, was erratic with his control in the early innings, but settled in to go 6.2 innings to notch his third victory of the season.

Jesse Oster, first man out of the 'pen, stranded the bases-loaded in the 7th inning, helping White get out of a jam he created with three walks. Oster would then pitch a 1-2-3 8th, and Ben Shockey, the Outlaws closer, remained perfect on the year, converting his sixth save in as many opportunities as he got Andre Marshall to ground into a 6-4-3 DP to end the game.

Jonny Ash had a great night, going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI. With the ballgame as close as it would get at 3-2, Ash chopped his third single through a drawn-in infield in the 7th, scoring Ryan Brown and Blake Gailen to give the Outlaws some breathing room. Rich Janeway added an RBI single in the 3rd inning, and Ryan Brown went 2-for-3, knocking a double off the very top of the wall in the 4th inning, missing his first home-run of the season by inches.

The Outlaws look to win their third in a row and clinch the three-game set with the Toros tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m. Jo Matumoto will make his fifth start of the season, as he looks to defeat the Toros in consecutive outings.
