CHICO, CALIF - The Outlaws announce that right-handed pitcher Hideki Irabu will start against the Outlaws on Friday night when the Long Beach Armada come to town for a three-game weekend series..

Irabu is a Japanese pitching legend, recognized as the most prolific strikeout pitcher in the Japanese Major Leagues before coming to the United States and signing with the New York Yankees in 1997. While with the Yankees, Irabu would win two World Series rings, in 1998 and 1999. In two starts this season, Irabu is 2-0 with an impressive 2.25 ERA.

"It is exciting for someone with Hideki's experience to take the mound right here in Chico," said Outlaws General Manager Curt Jacey. "His start will be great for both our players and fans alike, as a world champion ex-Yankee brings his best stuff to Nettleton Stadium."

Gates will open at 6:00pm with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the stadium box office, online at ChicoOutlaws.com, or at the Outlaws downtown office located at 308 Salem Street.
