Tucson, AZ - Join the Tucson Toros for Military Appreciation Night and Fireworks Friday, this Friday, June 19. The Toros will host the Yuma Scorpions for game one of a three game set, 7:00 pm at Hi Corbett Field, following the game the skies will light up with a fireworks display.
As part of the Military Appreciation Day, the Toros will host a series of events that will honor our service men and women, including:
Static military displays in Hi Corbett Field Parking Lot: Army Apache Helicopter. Fly in at approx. 4:30pm for fans to view unit after 5:00pm. Bomb Squad Unit.
All Military, active or retired personnel and their families, are guests of the Toros. Pick up Military Appreciation Day passes at the DMAFB, Air National Guard or Ft. Huachuca Public Affairs offices. Military duty men and women may also show their Military Identification at Hi Corbett Field the day of the game, at Gate number 4 or 5, to get in, with up to five family members per Military ID.
Pregame activities: Intermixed Color Guard with participation from Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. First Pitch by Colonel Paul Johnson, commander of the 355th Fighter Wing at Davis Monthan Air Force Base National anthem will be sung by active Military Staff Sergeant Antonique Deveaux-Shores from Davis Monthan Air Force Base. A Fly over will be done after the anthem - always a fan favorite.
Local Heroes have been selected by DMAFB, for Two Bronze Star recipients to be honored; CMSgt. Benjamin Hoover, and SSgt. Mario Kovach, who will be introduced on the field in between innings.
Fireworks post game with the popular local group "Arts Express" performing. The group of 40 singers will sing LIVE during the Fireworks show, with patriotic theme songs to end the night of Military Appreciation Day 2009.
