The Outlaws Win A Thriller In Tucson, Battling Back From A 6-3 Deficit

On a windy night in Tucson, the Outlaws rode a gust of offense to score a comeback surge, winning in come from behind fashion, 8-6.

The Outlaws gathered a gail of momentum, scoring the first three runs of the game to take a 3-0 lead into the middle of the 4th inning. But, as the 30 mph winds played tricks with flyballs, the Toros batted around and scored 6 runs to take a 6-3 lead before the inning was over.

Not deterred, the Outlaws answered back in the top of the 5th, scoring three runs to tie the ballgame as blowing infield dirt shrouded Hi Corbett Field. Truan Mehl, Ryan Brown, and Blake Gailen each picked up an RBI in the 5th, as the Outlaws reversed the game?s momentum as quickly as the monsoon winds blew.

Dan Luyben put the Outlaws ahead for good in the 6th inning with a two-out RBI single that plated Jonny Ash. From there on out, the Outlaws bullpen continued its? stellar season-long performance, as Donald Brandt pitched three scoreless innings, and Ben Shockey closed it out in the 9th for his fifth save in as many opportunities.

Truan Mehl finished the night 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Blake Gailen finished 3-for-4 with two RBI as well. Michael Martin pitched 5+ innings to get his second victory of the season. Donald Brandt, with three more scoreless innings of relief, pushed his scoreless appearance streak to 7 games and 15 innings.
