Toros Downed By Outlaws

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros, opened up a three game series at home versus the Chico Outlaws, on Tuesday, with an 8-6 loss at Hi Corbett Field.

All of the Toros offense came in the fourth inning as the home squad scored six runs, on five hits off of Chico starter Michael Martin, who earned the win and improved to 2-1.

With the loss the Toros drop to 5-6 and Chico improves to 10-7.

Dan Knox, (1-0) got the start on the hill but he didn't figure in the decision. Knox threw five innings where he gave up six runs, on ten hits, and he also fanned four Outlaw batters.

Chris Luera, (0-1) picked up the loss out of the pen. The Left handed pitcher threw three solid innings of relief where he gave up one run, on two hits, all while striking out five Chico batters. Mark Rosen closed things out for the Toros where he gave up one run, unearned, on one hit, and striking out two in the ninth.

Lino Garcia and Mayo Santana each chipped in with a pair of hits as Garcia went 2-5, with a double and two runs driven in and Santana hitting 2-4 with one RBI.

Andre Marshall also helped out offensively as he went 1-4, hit a triple and drove in two RBI.

Game two, of three, is scheduled for 7:00 pm Wednesday night, as the two teams will hook up again at Hi Corbett Field.
