July 1, 2009 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Chico Outlaws News Release
CHICO, CALIF - The Outlaws announce they have signed LHP Wayne Franklin to a contract for the remainder of the 2009 season. The newest member of the Outlaws will enter the starting rotation in tonight's ballgame against the Edmonton Capitals.
Franklin is a 35 year old native of Delaware. He has pitched over 300 innings of relief in the Major Leagues while playing seven years with five teams, including the San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees. In the past two seasons, Franklin has won 20 ballgames as a starter in the independent Atlantic League.
Franklin's addition corresponds with the earlier release of RHP Kevin Altman. General Manager Curt Jacey believes "Wayne is going to bring top-notch stuff to the staff. He's a crafty, veteran left-hander, and we're convinced he'll be a dominant force for us the rest of the season."
Gates for Franklin's first appearance and for tonight's Aaron Rodgers tribute night will open at 6:00pm with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. Tickets are still available as the Outlaws take on the Capitals and can be purchased at the stadium box office, online at ChicoOutlaws.com, or at the Outlaws downtown office located at 308 Salem Street. For any further information, please contact the Outlaws Front Office at 530-345-3210.
