Outlaws Partner With 'You Can Play Project '

June 17, 2013 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Denver Outlaws News Release

DENVER - The Denver Outlaws have become the first Major League Lacrosse team to partner with the You Can Play Project to help promote diversity and inclusion for all athletes, including gay teammates.

"As an organization, one of our core values is to make our community a better place through innovative programs and a lead-by-example approach," Director of Sales and Marketing Ted Tseng said. "We firmly believe the You Can Play project falls in line with those principles, as we are thrilled to help their cause. The Outlaws are dedicated to making sure athletes are only judged on their skill, work ethic and competitive spirit."

Representing the Outlaws in the video are defenseman Lee Zink, goalie Jesse Schwartzman and defenseman Matt Bocklet.

The Outlaws join the Colorado Mammoth as the only professional lacrosse teams to have videos feature on the You Can Play Project Website.

You Can Play is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation. The organization works to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, judged by other athletes and fans alike, only by what they contribute to the sport or their team's success. You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by focusing only on an athlete's skills, work ethic and competitive spirit.
