Erie Otters News Release

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League have announced that defenseman Mitch Gaulton has been traded to the Kingston Frontenacs in exchange for a sixth round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. The announcement was made by Otters General Manager Sherwood Bassin.

Gaulton is in his overage season in the OHL. With the Otters this season, he collected two goals and four assists in 14 games.

Originally the fourth overall selection by the Otters in the 2006 Priority Selection, Gaulton departs Erie after suiting up in 160 games with the Otters. The Grimsby, Ont. Native amassed 15 goals and 51 assists during his Otters career. He also appeared in nine playoff games with the Otters.

Gaulton was selected by the New York Rangers in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, but did not sign with the team prior to the June 1, 2010 deadline, making him an NHL free agent.

The Otters begin a three-game swing into Eastern Ontario to take on the Peterborough Petes tonight at 7:00 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan or online at ottershockey.com (courtesy of the James H. Cross Company).
