
Otters take down Whalers

Nick Palmieri scored a goal and two assists to lead the Erie Otters to a 3-2 win over the Plymouth Whalers in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 2,751 at the Tullio Arena. Ronny Rogers and Ryan O'Marra added a goal and an assist each for the Otters, who snapped a seven-game losing streak to improve to 2-5-0-2 on the season. Jared Boll and James Neal scored for the Whalers as Plymouth dropped to 5-3. The game was scoreless after one and tied at two after two. Palmieri netted what turned out to be the game winner 93 seconds into the third. The Otters out shot the Whalers 27-26 as Jeff Dawson posted his first career victory in a 24-save performance. The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Palmieri was the first, Dawson the second and Rogers the third.
The Otters return to action tomorrow (Saturday) night when they host the Toronto St. Michael's Majors at 7:30 p.m. at the Tullio Arena. Tickets for the game are available at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office. The game can also be heard live on 1330 Erie's ESPN Radio and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m. The game can also be seen live on the Image Sports Network (Time Warner County 12, City 20) beginning at 7:30 p.m. The back half a home-and-home series against the Majors will take place Sunday afternoon at St. Michael's College School Arena. Single game regular season ticket prices for the 2006-2007 season are $13.50 for platinum level seating and $11.50 for gold level seating. A child ticket is also available for $9.50 for children 12 and under in any seating section. All single game ticket prices include the City of Erie 3% Entertainment Tax.
