Sting Down The Rangers 5-4

Kitchener, ON: The Sting used three first period goals enroute to a 5-4 win over the Rangers tonight before a crowd of 5,546 at The Aud.

Sarnia's Brandon Mashinter scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring in the first period at 6:48 beating John Murray.

The Sting increased their lead to 3-0 before Rangers 1st round pick Nazem Kadri scored his first career OHL goal at 9:37 to make it a 3-1 game. Matt Halischuk added his team leading 4th goal of the season to cut the deficit to 3-2 after forty minutes.

In the third period J-M Rizk tied the game at 6:45, his 3rd goal of the season. The Sting added a pair of goals in a span of two and half minutes to increase their lead to 5-3. Scott Timmins responded with his first career goal thirty-one seconds later to bring the Rangers to within one goal. Despite several opportunities late in the game, Sarnia held on for a 5-4 win.

John Murray dropped to 3-2 on the season allowing five goals on 37 shots.

The Rangers next home game is Friday, October 20th against Toronto St. Michael's Majors. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
