
Otters sweep Wild Things, reclaim first base

WASHINGTON, PA â Carlos Brackley lined a single past a drawn-in infield, scoring O. J. Garza in the eighth, lifting the Evansville Otters to a 3-2 win and a sweep of the Washington Wild Things. The win moves the Otters into sole possession of first place in the Frontier League East Division.
The Wild Things scored first in the bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead. In the top of the fourth, Scott Ward singled with one out. That was followed by a single by Single by Steve Martin. Following a strikeout, Frank Scott singled through the right side, scoring both Ward and Martin for a 2-1 Otters lead.
After Washington tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, the Otters came back to take the lead for good in the top of the eighth. O. J. Garza walked to lead off the inning. B. J. Borsa threw a wild toss over to first base on a pickoff attempt to move Garza to third. Brackley then singled home Garza for the winning run.
A. J. Ampi picked up the win in relief for the Otters who come back home for a three game set against the Chillicothe Paints to end the first half of the season.
