Otters Strengthen Infield With Montgomery

April 15, 2007- The Evansville Otters have signed infielder Cody Montgomery of Boulder, Colorado. Montgomery was a four-year starter and two time NCCAA All-American selection at Division I Dallas Baptist University. In 226 career games with the Patriots, he hit .355 with 32 home runs and 186 RBIs. Montgomery ranked eighth among all Division I players in RBIs per game as a senior in 2006.

Montgomery, a 16th round draft choice in 2006, spent last season with the Philadelphia Phillies' Class A team at Batavia in the New York-Penn League. In 46 games, he hit .156 and drove in five runs.

The addition of Montgomery increases to 20 the number of new players on Evansville's 2007 roster.
