Erie Otters News Release

Adam Berti scored twice in the third period to spark a wild comeback as the Erie Otters rallied from a 4-1 second-period deficit on their way to a 6-4 win over the Sarnia Sting in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 4,369 at the Tullio Arena. Mike Blunden, Bret Nasby and Chris Greene also tallied third-period markers as the Otters ended a franchise record nine-game home losing streak (0-8-0-1) and posted their second straight victory. Andrew Hotham netted the other Otters goal to go along with a pair of helpers. Ryan O'Marra added three assists. Blunden's goal was his 40th of the season, as he became just the fourth member of the Otters to top the 40-goal mark (Cory Pecker, 53; Brad Boyes and Geoff Platt 45). The goal was also the veteran forward's 20th on the power play to tie the franchise record for power-play goals in a season established by Platt in 2004-2005. The Otters moved to 19-28-3-3 on the season and climbed to within four points of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (6-3 losers in Owen Sound tonight) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Otters also hold one game in hand. The Sting lost for the eighth straight time to drop to 15-34-2-2. The two teams were scoreless after one. Sarnia carried a 4-1 lead into the third. The Otters out shot the Sting 43-35 in the game as Josh Disher posted the victory. The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Hotham was the first, Greene the second and Berti the third.
