Erie Otters News Release

Jaroslav Janus turned aside four of the five chances he faced in the shootout and Greg McKegg potted the winner as the Erie Otters topped the Niagara IceDogs 3-2 in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 2,663 at the Tullio Arena. Janus has now stopped 16 out of the 18 shootout attempts he's faced this season while McKegg's goal was his second in as many tries and his second shootout game winner.

Tyler Hostetter and Brandon Biggers scored for the Otters in regulation. Erie improved to 28-24-2-0 with the win and finished a five-game home stand with a 4-1 record.

Matthew Sisca and Alex Pietrangelo scored for the IceDogs, who dropped their third straight to sink to 22-23-4-6 on the year. The two teams were tied at one after one. Niagara carried a 2-1 advantage into the third. Biggers scored a power-play goal in the opening three minutes of the third to force overtime, which led to the shootout.

The Otters out shot the IceDogs 41-35 in the game as Janus posted the victory. The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Biggers was the first, Hostetter the second and Zack Torquato (two assists) the third.

The Otters return to action Friday night when they travel to London to take on the Knights. The game can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
