Erie Otters News Release
It will be another busy weekend for the Erie Otters as they embark on their second straight set of three games in three days beginning Friday at the Tullio Arena. The Otters (5-4) posted a 2-1 record last weekend, the first of 11 sets of three games in three days in 2005-2006. Erie opened the weekend with back-to-back home wins over the Brampton Battalion (5-2) and the Kingston Frontenacs (7-1) followed by a 6-4 setback in Guelph against the Storm on Sunday afternoon. A balanced offense was the Otters main feature last weekend as 15 players hit the score sheet in the three games. Ryan O'Marra and Sean O'Connor paced the attack with six points each. After going his first five games of the season without a goal O'Marra scored once in each of the three games and added three assists while O'Connor continued his offensive resurgence collecting a goal and five assists to extend his point-scoring streak to a career-high seven games (4-6-10). The 18 year-old leads the Otters in scoring with six goals and six assists in nine games. Andrew Hotham (3-2-5), Chris Greene (1-4-5), Mike Blunden (3-1-4), Derrick Bagshaw (0-3-3), Christian Olsen (2-0-2), Nick Pamieri (2-0-2), Patrick Lee (0-2-2) and Chad Loikets (0-2-2) also all enjoyed multi-point weekends. Josh Disher made his first appearances of the season and backstopped the Otters in the three games allowing nine goals on 99 shots. The overage goaltender played a starring role in his 2005-06 debut Friday against the Battalion turning in a 38-save performance in the Tullio Arena victory. The Otters will open this weekend at home against the Windsor Spitfires on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Tullio Arena. The Spitfires (2-8) are led by veteran forward Ryan Garlock who has five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 10 games this season. Bradley Snetsinger is Windsor's goal-scoring leader with seven in 10 games. Tickets for the game are available at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office. Saturday the Otters hit the road for a pair in Western Ontario beginning in Sarnia against the Sting at 7:30 p.m. Sarnia is 5-4 to start the season and is led by veteran forward Chad Painchaud who has four goals and six assists in nine games. Sunday the Otters complete the weekend with a rematch against the Spitfires in Windsor at 2 p.m. The games Saturday and Sunday can be heard on SportsRadio 1330 The FAN. Hamot Hockey Night Saturday begins with the pre-game show live at 7:15 p.m. Sunday's game can be heard in it's entirety immediately following Pittsburgh Steelers Football. Both games are also available on the web (presented by the James H. Cross Company) at www.ottershockey.com.
