
Donatis Return to Oshawa to Torment Former Team

OSHAWA, ON - The Toronto St. Michael's Majors trailed the Oshawa Generals 3-1 after the 1st period this evening, before exploding for 8 of the game's final 9 goals to skate off with a 9-4 win. The big point producers for the Majors were Tyler Donati (5), Justin DiBenedetto (4), Peter Franchin (3) and Justin Donati (3). With the victory, the Majors record improves to 7-4-0-0 on the season.
The Generals jumped out to a 2-0 1st period lead on goals by Adam Berti and Cal Clutterbuck (power-play) at 1:22 and 8:53, respectively. Tyler Donati responded for Toronto less than a minute later off of DiBenedetto and Franchin feeds. However, Berti connected again at 18:17, on the man-advantage, with the support coming from Peter Tsimikalis and Dale Mitchell, to give the home squad a 3-1 lead heading into the intermission.
The Majors steamed ahead with 4 unanswered goals in the 2nd period, courtesy of Ryan Wilson (power-play), DiBenedetto (power-play), Matt Caria and Justin Donati at 4:51, 5:49, 7:51 and 13:47, respectively. The assists were credited to Wilson, Tyler Haskins (2), T. Donati, J. Donati, Matt Halischuk and Scott Lehman. Tsimikalis notched the Generals 4th goal with 1:54 to play in the middle frame, off of Berti and Trevor Waddell feeds, to get the home squad to within one.
In the 3rd period, the Majors exploded for another 4 unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. The tallies were provided by Franchin, T. Donati, DiBenedetto and Marek Horsky (shorthanded) at 3:18, 10:04, 13:30 and 18:17. The final round of helpers were credited to T. Donati (2), J. Donati, DiBenedetto, Franchin and Jaroslav Mrazek.
Justin Peters got the start and made 27 saves to earn the win. Kevin Couture started between the pipes for the Generals but was pulled after allowing 3 goals on 23 shots. His replacement, Stefan Grauwiler, stopped 9 of the 15 shots he faced. Both teams finished the night 2 for 7 on the power-play. The game's three stars were Tyler Donati (1st), Berti (2nd) and DiBenedetto (3rd).
The Majors travel to Guelph for a 7:30 pm puck drop tomorrow night (Friday, October 21st) before returning home to host the Sarnia Sting on Sunday afternoon (October 23rd) at 2:00 pm. Both contests will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region, channel 10 or 63, and webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.
