Otters Receive Commitment from Second Round Pick Lucas Ross
April 23, 2020 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that 2020 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection second round pick Lucas Ross committed to the team and completed an OHL standard player agreement.
"We are thrilled to get this commitment from Lucas," said General Manager Dave Brown. "Lucas brings a high level of energy, compete and skill. His vision for the offensive zone is unique. During the game he controls the pace and brings the level of play where few are comfortable competing at. Lucas will no doubt be a contributor offensively as he matures and ensure the Otters will be difficult to play against."
"It's truly an honor to sign with such a well-known organization," new commit Lucas Ross said. "Signing that paper is an amazing dream come true, and I am extremely excited for what is to come as a future Otter. I can't wait to give it my all for my teammates, coaches, family, and fans."
Ross, a 5' 5", 149-pound forward, was selected 40th overall by the Otters in the second round at the OHL Priority Selection earlier this April. The Kinburn, Ontario native joins the Otters from the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 15U program, where he posted 63 points (27G-36A) in 52 games played during the 2019-20 campaign. The 16-year-old is the third Pittsburgh Penguins Elite alum to commit to the Erie Otters in a little over one year, joining 2020 NHL Entry Draft eligible goaltender Aidan Campbell (Cranberry, PA) and NHL draft eligible forward Austen Swankler (North Huntingdon, PA).
