Missouri River Otters News Release

St. Charles, MO --- The Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League are proud to announce that they have signed defenseman Mat Snesrud for the upcoming season.

Snesrud, 27, is coming off a successful season with the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League. In 66 regular season games with the Royals, Snesrud fired home eight goals and added 21 assists. His success continued into the playoffs with six goals in 15 games.

“Mat’s a very responsible and smart player,” River Otters Head Coach Kevin Kaminski said. “He’ll be a great leader on the team and should be a tremendous asset on the power play.”

Snesrud’s most productive season came in 2002-03. In that campaign, the 6’3’’, 200 pound defenseman scored 10 goals and dished out 23 assists in 48 games with Reading, and also played in 29 games for the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League. He joins an already deep defense that is comprised of Dennis Vial, Bob Rapoza, Rodney Sundquist, and B.J. Heckendorn.

The River Otters start their Colonial Cup quest Friday, October 15 at Kansas City, and the home opener is Saturday, October 23 against Quad City.
