
Otters Fall to Sting, 6-2

SARNIA, Ont. - Justin DiBenedetto scored three shorthanded goals and an assist to lead the Sarnia Sting to a 6-2 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played in front of 4,058 at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre. Steven Stamkos added a goal and two assists for the winners while Devon DiDiomete and Matt Martin rounded out the scoring as Sarnia improved to 36-28-2-0. Justin Hodgman and Ryan O'Reilly scored for the Otters. Erie dropped to 17-45-2-2 with the loss.
The Sting led 4-0 after one and 5-1 heading into the third. The Otters struck midway through the third to make at a three-goal deficit before DiBenedetto hit the empty net to salt away the win. The Otters out shot the Sting 51-32 in the game as Jaroslav Janus took the loss. The three stars of the game were all from the Sting. Goalie Andrew Perugini was the first, DiBenedetto the second and Stamkos the third.
The Otters close out the road portion of their 2007-08 schedule tomorrow (Friday) night when they travel to London to face the Knights in a 7:30 p.m. start. The game can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m. The Otters close out the 2007-08 season Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. when the Guelph Storm visit the Tullio Arena.
