Barrie, ON - A two-goal third period powered the Barrie Colts to a 5-3 win over the Erie Otters on New Year's Eve.

Dylan Smoskowitz scored 1:23 into the contest to put the Colts on the board, but the Otters matched the tally on Greg McKegg's 12th of the season. The captain took a one-timer feed from Mike Cazzola and hammered home the puck through the blocker side of Mathias Niederberger at 4:24.

Alex Lepkowski scored early in the second to put the Colts back in front, but Travis Wood was able to redirect a Brett Cook shot at 8:47 to tie the game at two. The goal was Wood's sixth of the year.

The Otters took the lead at 13:58 when Connor Brown deflected a wrist shot from Adam Pelech for his team leading 14th of the season. The Colts tied the game with a power play goal at 16:22 on Reid McNeill's shot from the high slot.

The Colts controlled much of the third period, and broke their tie on their 15th shot of the frame as Colin Behenna collected what became the game-winning goal at 9:11. Eric Locke sealed the contest for Barrie just over three minutes later with his seventh goal of the season.

Tyson Teichmann was busy in net for the Otters, and made 41 saves in the loss. His best save came midway through the second when he stacked the pads on Erik Bradford and kicked the puck over the crossbar to keep the game tied at two.
