Otters Add Defenseman

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced today that they have added defenseman Lyon Messier to their roster.

The 20 year-old Troy, Michigan native started the 2007-08 season with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League where he played four games without registering a point.

The previous two seasons Messier, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 205 pounds, played for the Texas Tornadoes of the North American Hockey League. In 112 games with the Tornadoes he collected five goals and 32 assists for 37 points to go along with 86 minutes in penalties.

Messier is scheduled to make his Otters debut tonight (Thursday) when Erie travels to Sarnia to face the Sting.

The Otters (3-6) return to action with three games in three nights starting tonight (Thursday) in Sarnia against the Sting (5-5). Friday Erie travels to London to face the Knights (2-6). Both games can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company). Thursday's game starts with the pre-game show at 7:20 and Friday gets underway the pre-game at 7:15 p.m.

The next Otters home game takes place Saturday when the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors (3-3-1-0) pay a visit in a 7:30 p.m. start presented by Taco Bell. The first 3,000 fans into the game receive a free taco courtesy of Taco Bell.
