Spirit lose 4-3 to Petes

(Peterborough, ON) The Saginaw Spirit lost 4-3 to the Peterborough Petes in Peterborough, Ontario Thursday night. The Spirit have 9 points and a record of 3-4-2-1.

The Petes took an early lead in the first period. Winger Kenzie Sheppard scored a power play goal at 9:26, assisted by defenseman Zach Bogosian. The Petes scored again at 10:57 with winger Patrick Daley tallying a goal, assisted by Sheppard and center Brett Theberge.

The Spirit came back in the second period. Winger Ryan McDonough scored a power play goal at 5:15, assisted by center Jack Combs and winger Jan Mursak (DET). The Petes scored at 7:38 with Daley tallying a goal, assisted by Theberge and defenseman Jake LaPlante. The Petes center Zach Tatrn scored again at 16:57, assisted by winger Yves Bastien and winger Zach Kassian. The period ended 4-1.

The Spirit battled back in the third period with two consecutive goals. Center Tyler Murovich scored at 2:25, assisted by defensemen Adam Comrie and TJ Brodie. Spirit defenseman Nigel Williams (COL) scored again at 11:17, assisted by Murovich and center Daniel Pachis.

Spirit netminder Parker Van Buskirk tallied 20 saves and Ryan Daniels (OTT) had 7 saves. Petes netminder Trever Cann had 45 saves.

The Spirit continue their road trip with a game against Kingston on Friday at 7:30 PM.
