MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey picked up their first series win of the 2012 season on Sunday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field, holding off a late Great Falls Voyagers charge and claiming an 8-7 win in front of 2,324 fans.

Ty Linton homered to snap a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Michael Perez accounted for a pair of seventh-inning runs - drilling a RBI double, then scoring on a wild pitch - to push the Osprey lead to 8-5.

Great Falls (4-3) would use a two-run home run by Yoandy Barroso to pull within 8-7, but the Osprey bullpen would shut down the rally late, with Justin Thompson earning the first save of the season for the Osprey pitching staff in four chances.

Missoula (3-4) took the finale of the three-game season-opening homestand by collecting 14 hits - two each by Socrates Brito, Jake Lamb, John Leonard, Perez and Linton. Rudy Flores also had a key hit - a two-run double that, at the time, tied the game at 5-5.

Chris Pack (1-0) earned his first professional win by pitching six innings, and while he had control issues - issuing five walks - he held the Voyagers to four hits and struck out three, and left the game after Linton's four-bagger gave the Osprey the lead for good. Mike Blake and Chris Capper managed to get the game to Thompson, who allowed a leadoff hit but, after a strikeout, induced a double-play ball to finish off the victory.

The Osprey will now begin a stretch of five games against the Helena Brewers, with the first two being played at Kindrick Legion Field in Helena. The Osprey will send left-hander Andrew Barbosa to the mound, while the Brewers will counter with right-hander Eric Semmelhack.

The Osprey will return home to host the Brewers on Wednesday, June 27, which begins a seven-game homestand. Tickets are available now at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 North Higgins in Downtown Missoula, online at MissoulaOsprey.com and by phone (406) 543-3300.
