MISSOULA, MT - Adonys Canelo hit a three-run home run to key a four-run second inning, and Patrick Schuster produced a solid outing on the mound as the Missoula Osprey beat the Helena Brewers, 5-2, here at Ogren Park Allegiance Field on Saturday in front of 2,033 fans.
The Osprey (14-19, 28-43) took a 4-0 lead in the second inning, on a Fidel Pena single and Canelo's three-run blast off of the railroad tracks beyond the right-field fence. After the Brewers (20-13, 39-32) cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the seventh, an Adam Eaton sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning gave the Osprey its final cushion.
Schuster (5-4) made that lead stand up for six-plus innings. Schuster scattered five hits and three walks, and struck out three to pick up the win. Sammy De Los Santos provided a key 1 2/3 innings of relief, while Jeremy Erben picked up the final four outs of the game to earn his third save of the season.
The Osprey are also on the verge of setting a new single-season club attendance mark. With one more game remaining, the Osprey need to have at least 1,627 fans attend Sunday's home finale to break their old record, set in 2007, of 86,881.
The home finale will be against the Brewers on Sunday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. The Osprey will give the ball to right-hander Andrea Pizziconi, who will be making his first start for Missoula, while the Brewers will counter with right-hander Austin Ross.
Fans can purchase tickets for the home finale by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, by visiting the Osprey Team Store at 412 W. Alder, which will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, or by ordering online at www.missoulaosprey.com.
