Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
The Idaho Falls Chukars won their final home game of the season 10-9 over the Orem Owlz in 10 innings. The win completed a three-game sweep of the Owlz in front of the home fans at Melaleuca Field.
The story of the game wasn't the walk-off hit, but the Chukars' "pitcher" who was on the mound in the top of the tenth inning. In his first pitching appearance since Little League, Chukars catcher Dale Cornstubble earned the win. In his one inning of work, Cornstubble gave up a hit and two walks to load the bases, but got out of the situation unscathed.
The winning run came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Travis Jones singled to plate Yowill Espinal. The Chukars had scored six runs in the fifth inning and the game was back-and-forth after that.
The Chukars compiled 14 hits in the victory. Four different players for the Chukars had three hits. Juan Polonia went 3-for-5 with two stolen base. Justin Trapp finished 3-for-6 with two runs and a steal. Travis Jones was 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the win.
