Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

The Missoula Osprey scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to blow open a close game, and held off a late rally to take home a 10-7 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars before 3,064 fans on Thursday night at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

Adam Eaton - the Pioneer League's leading hitter with a .385 batting average - had three hits in four trips to the plate, scored three runs and drove in a pair for the Osprey (9-9, 23-33), who moved into sole possession of second place in the Pioneer League North Division Second-Half Standings with the victory.

Missoula - who took three of four games from the Chukars - had 11 hits on the night. Richie Rowland had two hits and two runs batted in, while Roidany Aguila added a pair of hits and scored twice. Roberto Rodriguez, Bobby Stone (RBI double), Eric Groff and Matt Helm added base hits, while Stephen Cardullo drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and drew a pair of walks for the Osprey.

The Osprey also had solid pitching up front, as for the second straight game a starting pitcher who was just in high school this past spring carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning and beyond. JR Bradley had his snapped in the fourth on Wednesday, while Robby Rowland (3-4) carried his into the fifth. Rowland, however, allowed three runs after surrendering his first hit of the night, and the Chukars (4-15, 20-37) took a 3-1 lead into the fifth.

The Osprey scored three times in the fifth - on Cardullo's sacrifice fly, a passed ball and Stone's bloop double - to not only get Rowland off the hook, but put him in position to win his third straight start. Relief pitchers Andrea Pizziconi - making his Osprey debut - and Justin Albert held on and preserved the win.

The Osprey will now take on the Casper Ghosts in a three-game weekend series which begins Friday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. Left-hander Patrick Schuster will get the start for the Osprey in the opener, while the Ghosts will send out right-hander Alving Mejias.

Fans can purchase tickets for any remaining Osprey home game this season by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, stopping by the Osprey Team Store at 412 W. Alder, or ordering online at www.missoulaosprey.com.
